Aleph Farms grows beef steaks from non-genetically engineered and non-immortalized cells from a living cow, without harming animals and significantly reducing environmental impact. Founded in 2017 by Didier Toubia, The Kitchen Hub of the Strauss Group, and Shulamit Levenberg, Biomedical Engineering Faculty at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, Aleph's vision is to provide unconditional nutrition for anyone, anytime, anywhere.

What is our technology?
We collect an initial small sample of cells from a healthy living animal. The cells grow inside a cultivator which mimics the internal environment of the animal’s body. Similar to the naturally occurring structural tissue in an animal, our plant-based scaffold provides a structure on which the cells grow, organize into a shape, and mature into muscle tissue.
Our plant-based scaffold plays a similar role as the extracellular matrix in the cow's body (made of animal proteins).
What is our product line and when will it be commercially available?
Our cultivated thin-cut beef steaks will be available to diners by the end of 2022, pending regulatory approval. We are developing a portfolio of diversified cultivated meat products intended to satisfy specific consumers’ preferences for fattier and thicker cuts of meat.
What are the advantages of cultivated meat?
Cultivated beef production is projected to reduce climate impact by 92%, air pollution by 93%, use 95% less land and 78% less water when compared to industrial beef production (CE Delft).
The automated process through which cultivated meat is produced, and the sterile environment of its manufacturing, will eliminate the use of antibiotics and significantly reduce the risk for pathogens or contaminants.
Cultivated meat production requires a fraction of the time compared to conventional meat production and eliminates the need to use antibiotics. It reduces the timeline between farm to fork and offers flexibility for the meat sector to better adapt to market needs, especially in times of crisis like COVID-19.
Aleph Farms is committed to carbon-neutrality in 2025 in its operations (scope 1 and 2) and throughout the entire supply chain by 2030 (scope 1, 2 and 3).
Why are we partnering with global food and meat companies?
Our strategy is to integrate into the existing ecosystem as part of our go-to-market plans, serving as the driver of an inclusive transition of the meat sector towards sustainability and resilience. Leveraging the expertise and infrastructure of leading food and meat companies will drive a faster scale-up of cultivated meat and eventually lead to a broader positive impact.
Stakeholders like meat corporations see cultivated meat as an opportunity for new production streams alongside their core conventional production, and as an enabler for meeting their country’s/organization’s ESG goals.
Who are our investors?
We see our investors as partners for building this new category of cultivated meat, and It was critical to us that they share our strong commitment to improving the sustainability of our global food systems.
