About BioMilk
BioMilk is dedicated to produce cell-based milk, human and animal alike. Through our proprietary and unique technology, we will be able to produce real milk from mammals (cow, goat, camel, etc.), as well as human breast milk, maintaining all the nutrients and delivery system only milk can provide. Currently, with traditional milking methods, and with a strong dependency on animal and humans, the benefits of producing and consuming real milk are limited.
However, through our cell-based technological production we will be able to untap milk’s potential, by making animal milk and human breastmilk. We will produce milk, in an independent manner: we will be able to benefit from milk’s goodness, without depending on the original source to be present.
Why Milk?
Almost 88% of Milk is water, and the rest is divided between fats, sugars, and proteins. But milk is much more than the sum of its parts- and it is much more that simply a combination of macronutrients that provide energy and building blocks to our muscles, bones, and cells. Milk is the only food that has evolved throughout the evolution of mammals in order to support their survival, health and development. 200 million years of evolution resulted in a unique liquid which consist of everything humans and other mammals need to live and thrive. Milk is comprised of more than 2000 micro and macronutrients which are of utmost importance to babies and adults’ health. Milk’s unique composition and complex structure allows humans to absorb all their necessary nutrients in the most efficient way. Therefore milk cannot be replicated nor replaced by any other food in the entire world.
Current challenges
Traditional dairy industry: a) expected growth in global population will accelerate global food demand. b) more than 35% of global methane emissions come from cattle production, one of the greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. c) growing consumer concerns regarding animal welfare and increasing demands for sustainable products that are both healthy and friendly to the environment. Challenges for babies: a) the World Health Organization -WHO- recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months, however less than half of babies are breastfed for that entire period. b) 10% of babies are preterm newborns, and they require breast milk to survive.
BioMilk’s solution
Our purpose is to Unlock Milk’s Full Potential. Through our proprietary and unique cell-based technology, which includes the isolation of cells from the mammary glands, the cultivation of the cells in bioreactors, and the harvesting and downstreaming methods, we will produce real milk, dairy products, and specialty ingredients. We will offer the incomparable benefits that milk provides, while making sure we address the challenges around milk production and consumption.
Target Market
Today’s global addressable market is close to $700B, which includes the global dairy, the infant formula, and alternative dairy markets, and also the dairy specialty ingredients market.
