• Food waste treatment service: BSF larvae is a ferocious eater of everything organic, while completely harmless for humans. BSF utilizes virtually any type of food waste in a fast, safe and scalable manner, making it a perfect solution for treatment of large volumes of food waste.
• BSF meal: contains up to 63% protein, and it's is an excellent alternative to fishmeal and other feed protein sources. Multiple studies have shown that BSF meal provided sustainable alternative to fish meal, without any negative effects on physiology or fillet quality in rainbow trout, Atlantic salmon and crustaceans. In poultry and pigs, BSF meal was also found to be safe replacement for conventional protein meals.
• Insect fat for feed: BSF fat is an excellent alternative to traditional fats & oils used for feed formulation. Dogs and poultry trials show that BSF fat supplementation is feasible, without compromising palatability and growth.
• Organic fertilizer (frass): BSF frass is an organic residue resulting from BSF cultivation - essentially an excellent organic fertilizer, backed by solid body of academic research. Entoprotech is currently working on BSF frass productization.
• Value-add products: as an ecological decomposer, BSF is routinely exposed to harmful microorganisms (e.g. bacteria and fungi). As a result, BSF have developed an effective and complex innate immune system, able to eliminate invading pathogens rapidly by quick and intensive production of potent antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). BSF oil is high in lauric acid - this fatty acid is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which are already utilized in cosmetics. Entoprotech currently have a pipeline of value-add products.
